Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Delmar Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigo Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Delmar Mullen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Silva!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mullen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Silva tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mullen is in Silva's guard.

Silva trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Mullen postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.
Mullen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Silva is looking to stand up but Mullen isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mullen leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Silva has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Silva wants to slow Mullen down by chopping away at his legs.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Mullen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mullen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mullen, into his guard.
Mullen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Mullen is looking for a triangle here but Silva uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Mullen is not content to let Silva control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee asks Silva politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Silva prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Delmar Mullen will probably get the nod.

Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mullen defends it nicely.

Mullen throws a strike but Silva rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Silva misses with a head shot. Mullen uses the momentum to regain guard.

Silva is pushing down on Mullen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mullen is fighting to maintain full guard but Silva has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's time! Mullen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mullen manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Mullen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mullen defends it well.
Silva is keen to just control but Mullen is a slippery customer.

Rodrigo Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mullen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
