Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hassan Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Terenc Kill!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kill did well to prevent Mason getting side control.
Mason not doing much here.
Kill trying to control from the bottom.
Kill tries to roll over but Mason keeps him under control.
Mason performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hassan Mason just wasn't active enough.
Kill misses with a head kick.

Kill closes the distance and clinches.
Mason tries to circle away but Kill has him pinned against the cage.
Kill goes for a takedown attempt but Mason pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Mason counters with a right hand to the body.

Kill shoots in and bounces Mason off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mason wants to stand but Kill is controlling the position.
Kill pushes down on Mason's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mason wants to improve his position but Kill is controlling well.

Mason makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kill shoots in looking for a takedown but Mason manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kill's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hassan Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terenc Kill.
Kill looks winded!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Mason makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kill has managed to clinch.

Mason tightens his grip and picks Kill up, before dumping him to the ground. Kill manages to land in guard.
Mason is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason wanted to stand there but Kill had control of the position.

Hassan Mason has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Kill looking to score a takedown here. Mason is defending well but Kill drives through and ends up in Mason's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kill prevents Mason from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason has his takedown stuffed

and Kill counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mason jumps guard but Kill stands there with Mason around his waist. Mason gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kill clinches with his opponent.

Mason has Kill pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mason pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kill tumbling to the mat - Mason dives into Kill's guard.
Kill is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kill tries to strike from the bottom.
Kill is trying to control the position but Mason postures up.

Mason stays in close to Kill's body and controls the position.
Kill trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.
Mason slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hassan Mason.
Kill throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Mason looks for a takedown but Kill sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hassan Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck for Kill with that takedown attempt.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kill.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kill. Mason shrugs it off though.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown but Kill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mason's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kill has closed the distance and engaged Mason in a clinch.
Mason is looking to control Kill's arms but Kill gets an underhook and turns him. Now Mason has his back to the cage.

Mason is pressed up against the cage. Kill has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mason down to the mat. Mason avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kill shoots in and bounces Mason off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mason pulls Kill in close to prevent any damage.
Kill prevents Mason from getting back to his feet.
Kill is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mason has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kill is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Kill just leaning against Mason, taking a breather.
Kill jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mason walks away with a smile on his face. Kill gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mason closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kill's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kill looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mason controls from within his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Terenc Kill will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Mason shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kill's guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Still in half guard, Mason seems content to control.

and Kill counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mason thinking.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mason fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mason wants the takedown. Kill is fighting it off but Mason persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kill's guard against the cage.
Mason is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. Kill tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kill manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mason dives in and scores a takedown into Kill's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kill looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mason trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kill's guard.
Mason looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Kill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mason engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
