Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jurand Ze Spychowa!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ze Spychowa swats away the attempt to clinch by Joyner.
Joyner looks to throw the jab but Ze Spychowa is out of range.
Joyner throws a sloppy head kick and Ze Spychowa moves out of range easily.
Ze Spychowa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Joyner.
Ze Spychowa tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Joyner counters with a takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Joyner wants to stand but Ze Spychowa is controlling his arm.

Joyner is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ze Spychowa has escaped the position, nice work there.
Joyner tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Joyner controls the position from side control.

Joyner stands up.
Ze Spychowa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Joyner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ze Spychowa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ze Spychowa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Joyner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ze Spychowa is in Joyner's guard.

Ze Spychowa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Joyner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ze Spychowa, into his guard.
Joyner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Joyner wanted to stand there but Ze Spychowa had control of the position.
Joyner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ze Spychowa has a closed guard, preventing Joyner from standing up.
Joyner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Faustino Joyner just wasn't active enough.

Joyner drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ze Spychowa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ze Spychowa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ze Spychowa!

Ze Spychowa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Joyner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Joyner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ze Spychowa is proving hard to escape from.

Joyner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ze Spychowa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Joyner swings around for an armbar but Ze Spychowa sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Joyner's guard.

Ze Spychowa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ze Spychowa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ze Spychowa laying and praying for a moment but Joyner takes advantage and regains half guard.

Ze Spychowa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Joyner is just riding it out for now. Ze Spychowa eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Faustino Joyner will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Joyner enables Ze Spychowa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Joyner manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ze Spychowa is trying to control the action in half guard but Joyner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Joyner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Joyner is staying active underneath Ze Spychowa, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Joyner has gone for a leg lock! Ze Spychowa slips out almost immediately though and dives into Joyner's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
