Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drum Road (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Drum Road!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Road has taken the fight to the clinch.
Carr is looking to break free of the clinch but Road has double underhooks.
Road fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Road's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice sprawl there from Carr as Road shoots in.
Road fails with the takedown.
William Carr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drum Road.
Horrible takedown by Road or perhaps it was just good defense by Carr which made him look bad.
Carr dives in and grabs Road's left leg, looking for a takedown. Road pushes down on Carr's head and hops out.
No luck for Road with that takedown attempt.
Carr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Road's waist but Road gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carr off to one side.

Road has closed the distance and engaged Carr in a clinch.

Road is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Carr won't allow Road to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of William Carr.

Road tries to keep at a distance but Carr has taken the fight into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Carr's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Road is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Road controls Carr momentarily but Carr frees himself.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Drum Road has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Road fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carr, pushing him back against the cage.
Carr wants to get back to striking at distance but Road won't allow it.

Carr manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Road avoiding damage as Carr throws knees to the body.
Road keeps control of Carr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Road is trying to pull guard but Carr has him pressed against the cage.
Carr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Road has him pressed against the cage.
Road tries to pull guard but Carr forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Carr is pressed up against the cage. Road has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carr down to the mat. Carr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carr thows a body kick. Road tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Carr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Road defends it nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Road but Road pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Drum Road will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Carr instigates a clinch.
Road has Carr pressed against the cage, preventing Carr from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Road is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Carr can't break the clinch.
Carr blocks an elbow strike from Road.
Road is looking for a takedown.
Carr wants to get back to striking at distance but Road won't allow it.
Carr wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Road breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Road clinches up with Carr and pushes him back against the cage.

Carr tries to circle away but Road has him pinned against the cage.

Road pulls guard effortlessly.
Carr missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Road throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Carr escapes and throws Road's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Carr tries for a kimura but Road is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Road tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Carr easily slips into full mount!
Road tries to hold on but Carr pushes him away.
Carr throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Road flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Road tries to hold on but Carr postures up.
Carr trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Road is trying to reverse the position but instead Carr has taken his back - oops!
Road wants to escape the position.
Road controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Carr has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Road has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carr is looking for the choke from the back position but Road is controlling his hands well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Carr dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Road throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Carr's head.


It looks like William Carr has been cut.
Road tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carr defends well and Road ends up having to push Carr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Road lands with a right to the head.

Carr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Road moves into the clinch successfully.
Road keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carr's efforts to push away.
Road tries to pull guard but Carr won't allow it.
Road displaying some good clinch control by pressing Carr up against the cage.

Carr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Road stuffs the takedown attempt from Carr. Carr gets slowly back to his feet.

Carr tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Road just stands there and leans against the cage.

Carr is trying to push Road away but Road has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Road manages to break the clinch.

Carr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Road tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carr just stands there and leans against the cage.
Carr tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Road smiles and moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Road rushes Carr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carr prevents the takedown attempt.

Road manages to break the clinch.
Road shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carr but Carr pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Road takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Road shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carr as he avoids it easily.

Carr clinches.
Carr is pressed up against the cage. Road has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carr down to the mat. Carr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Road tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carr smiles and moves away.
Road tries to land a front kick but Carr steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A low kick from Road is predictable there
and Carr counters with a nice uppercut.
Carr fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Road pushes Carr up against the cage in a clinch.
Carr is trying to push Road away but Road has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Road jumps guard and drags Carr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carr trying to control but Road is working from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Road wants to sweep but no luck.

And that's the end of the fight!
Drum Road comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Road has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
