PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Fereiera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mads Klink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klink has chosen Johnny Cash - God's gonna cut you down as his entrance music. Gabriel Fereiera has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Fereiera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mads Klink!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fereiera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Klink wants to get back to his feet but Fereiera drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Klink sneaks out the side door and pushes Fereiera away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Klink throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Klink throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Mads Klink seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fereiera takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Klink connects with the punch.


Fereiera is rocked!
Klink looks to land a body kick but Fereiera moved away.
Oh Fereiera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Klink tries a head kick but it misses.
Fereiera seems to have got his legs back now.

Fereiera closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Klink's guard.
Klink wants to stand up but Fereiera is controlling him.
Fereiera is looking to stand up but Klink won't let him.

Fereiera drops back looking for a leg! Klink is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Klink manages to kick Fereiera off! Fereiera jumps back into Klink's guard.
Fereiera won't allow Klink to get back to his feet.
Klink looks winded!

Klink keeping moving, preventing Fereiera from controlling successfully.
Klink wants to stand up but Fereiera is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fereiera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fereiera works over Klink with some ground and pound from guard.
Fereiera prevents Klink from getting back to his feet.

Fereiera is looking to stand up but Klink won't let him.
Fereiera makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Fereiera throwing strikes but missing.
Fereiera loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've been hearing that Fereiera has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fereiera wanted to stand there but Klink had control of the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Klink can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fereiera won't allow Klink to get back to his feet.
Fereiera slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Klink goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Klink pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Klink displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fereiera.
Mads Klink is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fereiera ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Klink ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fereiera moves away.
Fereiera looks to land a combination but Klink avoids it well.
Fereiera shoots in for a takedown but Klink shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fereiera shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Klink napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Klink wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Klink takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Fereiera tries to stand but Klink is controlling his head.
Klink is not content to let Fereiera control the position.
Fereiera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Klink tries to escape but Fereiera is in control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fereiera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fereiera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Klink pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Klink misses with a body shot.
Fereiera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Klink as he avoids it easily.

Klink swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Klink delivers a nice body kick.
Klink fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fereiera manages to avoid it.
An inside leg kick from Klink misses.
Klink tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Klink throws a half hearted mid kick.
Fereiera changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Klink tries to avoid it but Fereiera manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Klink to the ground. Klink escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Klink is breathing heavily.

Fereiera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Klink but Klink pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Fereiera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fereiera takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Fereiera shoots in looking for a takedown but Klink manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fereiera's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Klink lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fereiera circles away quickly and effectively.

Fereiera shoots in for a double leg but Klink sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Klink throws the kick towards the body but Fereiera avoids it.
Klink misses with the combination.
Klink wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A punch lands to the side of Fereiera 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Klink swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fereiera.
Fereiera fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fereiera uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Klink.

Fereiera darts in looking for a takedown but Klink gets double underhooks and turns Fereiera into the cage.

Mads Klink showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Klink throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fereiera.

and Fereiera counters with a straight right hand.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Klink has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Fereiera off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Fereiera avoids the head kick by Klink.
Fereiera shoots for a double leg takedown but Klink sprawls well. He's pushed Fereiera's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A left and a right from Klink both land. Nice combination.
Klink tries to bum rush Fereiera with a series of wild strikes but Fereiera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fereiera tries to pull guard but Klink forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Klink breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Klink lands with a nice combination. Fereiera backs away looking to recover.

Fereiera shoots in but Klink avoids the takedown attempt easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Klink throws a nice looking combination but Fereiera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mads Klink comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Klink has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
