The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lange tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barnes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lange shoots in and drives through. Barnes sprawls well.
Barnes moves out of range of the leg kick from Lange.
Barnes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lange scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Barnes gets back to half guard.
Barnes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lange is working away from the top position though.
Lange wants to pass to mount but Barnes is defending the position.

Barnes is staying active underneath Lange, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Barnes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lange pulls his head out easily.

Lange sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Barnes's guard.
Lange wants to pass the guard but Barnes is defending well.
Barnes is controlling Lange's position as best he can from this difficult position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lange is looking to clinch.
Lange tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barnes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Barnes counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lange!

Lange tries to bench press Barnes off him but Barnes keeps the position.
Lange really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barnes cracks Lange with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Barnes throws a strike aimed at the side of Lange's head but Lange avoids it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lange is looking for a sweep.
Barnes throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes wants to control but Lange is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
