Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Niini Saulisto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bubba Smith!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks to land a right hand but Saulisto moved out of range.
Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saulisto was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.
Smith lands a big uppercut and Saulisto crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Saulisto looks OK. Smith waves Saulisto back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Saulisto looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith and Saulisto are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Smith throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Saulisto into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Smith knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Bubba Smith!
Post fight, an emotional Bubba Smith said 'uhhhh...'.
