PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tukka Hirvonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arman Shaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arman Shaker told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Tukka Hirvonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arman Shaker!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaker shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Tukka Hirvonen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hirvonen throws a jab but it's blocked by Shaker.
Shaker dives in for a single leg takedown but Hirvonen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Shaker takes a shot to the head.
Shaker tries to pull guard but Hirvonen holds him up against the cage and eventually Shaker drops back down to his feet.
Hirvonen can't find room to land a body shot as Shaker controls the action.
Hirvonen lands a body shot in the clinch.

Shaker jumps into guard, dragging Hirvonen to the mat.

Shaker has his hands on Hirvonen's head, controlling the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shaker wants to sweep here but Hirvonen controlling him for the moment.

Hirvonen distracts Shaker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Shaker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hirvonen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Shaker wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hirvonen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hirvonen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hirvonen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hirvonen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shaker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hirvonen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shaker tries to improve position but can't.
Hirvonen tries to move to mount but Shaker blocks the move with his legs.
Shaker sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hirvonen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shaker knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hirvonen thows a huge punch but Shaker dodges it nicely.
Hirvonen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Hirvonen wants to control but Shaker is keeping him busy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shaker manages to get to full guard.
Shaker looking for a sweep. Not yet Shaker, not yet.
Shaker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hirvonen trying to control but Shaker is working from the bottom.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hirvonen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Shaker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shaker wants to sweep but no luck.
Shaker keeping moving, preventing Hirvonen from controlling successfully.
Hirvonen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tukka Hirvonen dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shaker takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hirvonen misses the shot to the body.
Shaker stuffs the takedown.
Shaker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hirvonen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Hirvonen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
A right-left combo lands from Hirvonen.


Shaker is rocked!
Shaker throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hirvonen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shaker is still on wobbly legs! Can Hirvonen finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shaker looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hirvonen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hirvonen drops Shaker with a straight right hand, right on the button! Hirvonen follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tukka Hirvonen!
