Dos Santos comes to the cage accompanied by Chemical Brothers - Leave Home. Romero is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lords Of Salem . William Dos Santos had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, William Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nicodemo Romero!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero checks a leg kick nicely.
Dos Santos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dos Santos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Romero.
A looping hook to the body misses from Romero. Dos Santos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dos Santos lands with a hook. Romero tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Romero scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Romero rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dos Santos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Dos Santos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

A left lands for Dos Santos.
Dos Santos has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dos Santos there as he acknowledges the shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Romero misses with a double jab.
Romero needs to keep his hands up - Dos Santos had a free shot at his head there.
Romero fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dos Santos has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Romero looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dos Santos swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dos Santos shoots in and bounces Romero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Dos Santos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dos Santos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Romero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Romero is looking for a sweep. Dos Santos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dos Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dos Santos drops back looking for a leg! Romero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Romero manages to kick Dos Santos off! Dos Santos jumps back into Romero's guard.

Dos Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Romero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dos Santos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Romero can't keep his opponent in guard - Dos Santos advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Dos Santos is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dos Santos seems to be working for a kimura but Romero defends the submission attempt.

Dos Santos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Romero wants to get back to full guard.
Romero won't allow Dos Santos to pass to mount.
Romero wants to improve his position but Dos Santos is controlling well.

Dos Santos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Romero wants to control but Dos Santos is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Dos Santos is trying to control the action in half guard but Romero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dos Santos is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Romero is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Dos Santos looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Dos Santos is looking for a kimura but Romero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dos Santos to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dos Santos prevents Romero from improving his position.
Dos Santos moves into full mount! Romero won't be happy about that!
Romero is squirming around, avoiding Dos Santos's attempts to control the action.
Romero sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that William Dos Santos will probably get the nod.

Romero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dos Santos to score with a decent uppercut.

Dos Santos lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
William Dos Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Romero lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dos Santos!

Dos Santos pushes a forearm under Romero's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Romero is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

William Dos Santos very nearly forgot to thank Milwaukee's Best 160 amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
