PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zane Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muza Django (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muza Django told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zane Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Muza Django!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Django lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Mason slips a straight right by Django.
Mason scores with a jab to the body.
Mason slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Mason throws a sloppy head kick and Django moves out of range easily.

Mason has Django up against the cage in a clinch.
Mason has Django pressed against the cage, preventing Django from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Django tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mason's elbow.
Mason tries to work over Django's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Mason manages to break the clinch.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mason. Django shrugs it off though.
Django lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mason.
Django throws a shot from downtown. Mason moves away and avoids it.
Mason is looking to slow Django down with leg kicks.
Mason feints and then cracks Django's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Django down.
Django throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Django misses with the combination.
Mason scores with a sloppy right hand. Django should have avoided that one.

Django wants to clinch up but Mason keeps it at a distance.
Zane Mason is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mason fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Django.
Django has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mason swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Django tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mason paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mason connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mason keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Mason scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Django throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mason.
Django throws a right hand that Mason ducks under and follows up with a left that Mason also avoids with ease.
Muza Django seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mason chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Django shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mason as he jumps to the side.
Mason misses with a head kick.
Mason looks to throw the jab but Django is out of range.
Django swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Django swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Mason counters with a leg kick.
Django lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Django fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Mason.
Mason circles away from the clinch attempt.
Django tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mason swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mason misses with a kick to the body.
Django connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mason momentarily.
Django changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mason tries to avoid it but Django manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mason to the ground. Mason escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Zane Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muza Django.
Good leg kick by Mason there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mason lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Mason uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Django.
Sloppy strikes from Mason. Those never looked like landing.
A lazy left from Django finds it's target.
Mason leaves Django with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Django looks for a takedown but Mason sprawls well.
Django looks winded!

Mason lands with a kick to the ribs.
A nice leg kick lands there from Mason.

Django looks to land a right hand but Mason moved out of range.
Mason lands a leg kick that knocks Django off balance momentarily.
Django looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mason throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Django has a takedown stuffed.
Mason wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mason scores with a kick to the body.
Django is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mason cracks the inside of Django's front leg.
Mason throws a head kick but Django moves out of range.

Mason gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mason lands a nice uppercut.

Django is rocked!
Mason lands a left hand that snaps the head of Django backwards.
Django is still on wobbly legs! Can Mason finish him?
Mason throws a big uppercut that drops Django! More strikes from Mason and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Django lies dazed against the cage as Mason celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zane Mason!
Zane Mason was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
