PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bill Batson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinny Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Russo has chosen Volbeat - The Human Instrument as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Batson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vinny Russo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Batson misses.

Batson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Russo.

Russo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Batson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Russo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Batson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Batson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Russo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Russo is defended easily by Batson.
Batson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Russo tries to keep at a distance but Batson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Russo moves out of range of the strikes.
Batson thows a body shot but no joy.
Batson blocks a low kick nicely.
Batson throws a hook to the side of Russo's head but Russo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Russo cracks Batson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Batson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Russo will feel that in the morning.
Batson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Russo on the side of the head.

Russo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Batson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Batson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Russo manages to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Batson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Russo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Russo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Batson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vinny Russo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Batson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Russo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Russo is fighting to break Batson's control of his arms but Batson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
