Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nero Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rubin Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bob Dylan - Hurricane. Rubin Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nero Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rubin Carter!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Padilla scores with a jab.
Carter walks into a jab.
Padilla throws the kick towards the body but Carter avoids it.
Padilla tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance.
Padilla takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Carter with a nice cross.
Padilla darts in looking for a takedown but Carter gets double underhooks and turns Padilla into the cage.
Carter misses with an elbow strike.
Padilla swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Carter trying to stall but Padilla improves his position.
Carter wants to get back to striking at distance but Padilla won't allow it.
Carter lands a body shot.
Padilla dodges an elbow strike from Carter.
Carter lands an elbow that stopped Padilla in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Nero Padilla has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Padilla swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Carter lands a hook that snaps the head of Padilla backwards.
Carter prevents a body shot from Padilla.
Padilla using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carter has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Padilla pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Carter takes a shot to the head.
Padilla misses with a punch to the body.

Carter blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Carter lands a left hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Padilla is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well.

Padilla seems keen to control Carter's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Padilla throws his legs up looking for a submission but Carter uses it to pass to side control.
Carter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Padilla is not content to let Carter control the position.
Padilla manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Carter won't allow Padilla to pass to mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carter is pressing down on Padilla's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That was a close round but I would say that Nero Padilla will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Padilla moves away.
Padilla pushes Carter away with a front kick.
A low kick from Padilla misses
and Carter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Carter moves forwards but Padilla connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Padilla on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Carter throws a shot to the body.
Padilla throws a leg kick but Carter moved away.
Padilla missing with a left hand there. Carter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Carter rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Padilla ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Carter throws a chopping leg kick but Padilla manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Padilla tries to clinch up but Carter circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter blocks a jab.
Carter lands with a nice combination. Padilla backs away looking to recover.
Padilla misses with a wild body shot.
Carter blocks a leg kick.
Carter throws a leg kick that is checked

and Padilla counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carter won't be happy with that.
Carter is looking to reverse the position.
Carter is not content to let Padilla control the position.

Padilla moves into full mount!
Padilla tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Carter is desperately trying to improve his position but Padilla has a good base and remains in mount.

Padilla moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Carter has worked his arm free - good work by Carter!
Padilla is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Carter will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
You can see the frustration on Carter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Padilla tries to advance to mount but can't.
Carter wants to control but Padilla postures up.

Padilla is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carter has escaped the position, nice work there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Padilla takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Carter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Carter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Padilla closes the distance looking to clinch
and Carter counters with a straight right hand.
Carter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sloppy strikes from Padilla. Those never looked like landing.
Padilla misses with a straight left.

Padilla looks to throw the jab but Carter is out of range.
Carter throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Carter missing with a left hand there. Padilla was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Padilla scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Padilla takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Padilla.
Carter misses with a straight right.
Nero Padilla is winning the standup battle so far.
Carter throws a leg kick but Padilla sees it coming and moves out of range.
Carter throws a left and a right that both miss

and Padilla counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carter's guard now.
Rubin Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Padilla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Padilla wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
Padilla looking to sit in guard and control but Carter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Padilla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Carter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Padilla lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carter!

Carter blocking the ground and pound.
Carter is looking to get to half guard.
Padilla looking to control but Carter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Carter tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Carter trying desperately to get to his feet.
Padilla can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carter is looking to escape.

Padilla tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Carter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carter tries to reverse the position but Padilla maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nero Padilla showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Padilla, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
