Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hassan Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Graush Grimshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hassan Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Graush Grimshaw!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Grimshaw enables Mason to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Grimshaw manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Grimshaw wants to hit a switch here but Mason passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Grimshaw there!

That was a close round but I would say that Hassan Mason will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Grimshaw gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Grimshaw is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mason's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mason's back!

Grimshaw is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Mason knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Mason for a finish.
Grimshaw thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grimshaw on the ground.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hassan Mason has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Grimshaw misses with a left hand

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mason wants to control from the top but Grimshaw keeps moving.

Mason bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Grimshaw manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Hassan Mason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mason seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mason tries to stand but can't do so whilst Grimshaw controls his leg.
Grimshaw is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Grimshaw is pressing down on Mason's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mason wants to control from the top but Grimshaw keeps moving.
Mason has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Grimshaw closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
