Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Monterrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasiliy Sobolev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sobolev's choice of entrance music: Ya kuplu tebe dom. This should be fireworks!

With a record of 24 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasiliy Sobolev!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monterrey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Monterrey works Sobolev's body with a nice hook.
Monterrey throws a sloppy head kick and Sobolev moves out of range easily.
Monterrey tries a head kick but it misses.
Monterrey slips a straight right by Sobolev.
Monterrey shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like John Monterrey has been cut.
Sobolev ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sobolev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Monterrey's waist but Monterrey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sobolev off to one side.
Sobolev missing with a left hand there. Monterrey was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Monterrey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sobolev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Horrible takedown by Sobolev or perhaps it was just good defense by Monterrey which made him look bad.
Monterrey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sobolev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Monterrey moves away.
Monterrey looks to land a right hand but Sobolev moved out of range.
Monterrey digs a good body shot into Sobolev's ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sobolev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Sobolev throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Sobolev is looking to take a break and control but Monterrey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Monterrey is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Synergy Fight Team , so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Monterrey wants to control but Sobolev postures up.
The ground and pound from Sobolev seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
