Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Giancana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luigi Vercotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vercotti has chosen Poverty - Ennio Morricone as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vercotti ducks under a wild hook from Giancana.
Vercotti smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Giancana misses the jab.
Giancana takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Giancana moves into the clinch successfully.
Giancana looking for a takedown.

Giancana escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vercotti moves away from the strike by Giancana.
Giancana throws a leg kick but Vercotti sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Giancana gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Giancana misses with a body punch

and Vercotti counters with a nice double leg into side control. Giancana won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vercotti controls the position.
Giancana is trying to buck Vercotti off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Giancana avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vercotti.
Vercotti is looking to take a break and control but Giancana is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vercotti cracks Giancana with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Vercotti lands a decent elbow from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Giancana pushes Vercotti away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Vercotti gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Giancana seems a little lost for a moment, as Vercotti dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vercotti passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Giancana!
Vercotti lands a big shot there that rocks Giancana but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Giancana is rocked!
Vercotti cracks Giancana with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
