Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toga Masotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Socrates's entrance music is Tool - Schism. A fine choice. Toga Masotti has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Socrates fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Masotti stuffs the takedown.
Masotti keeps Socrates at a distance using the push kick.
Masotti throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Socrates crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Masotti - the referee stops the clock and Socrates gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Masotti. Socrates manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Socrates wants the takedown. Masotti is fighting it off but Socrates persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Masotti's guard against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masotti takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Masotti has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Socrates shoots in looking for a takedown. Masotti tries to sprawl out of it but Socrates keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Masotti manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Socrates fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Masotti manages to avoid it.

Socrates takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Socrates shoots in for a double leg but Masotti sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Masotti tries to close the distance and clinch up but Socrates swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Socrates shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Masotti sprawls well. Masotti wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Socrates gets slowly back to his feet.
