Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor McNeil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damian Acevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trevor McNeil!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNeil tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Acevedo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McNeil looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
McNeil tries to bum rush Acevedo with a series of wild strikes but Acevedo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

McNeil shoots in and bounces Acevedo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
McNeil looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
McNeil postures up in Acevedo's guard and throws a big left but Acevedo blocks it.
McNeil trying to control but Acevedo is working from the bottom.
Acevedo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McNeil on the ground.

McNeil is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

McNeil loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Acevedo wants to stand up but McNeil is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Damian Acevedo just wasn't active enough.

McNeil throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Acevedo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McNeil is in Acevedo's guard.
Acevedo wants to stand and escape but McNeil is having none of it.
Acevedo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Acevedo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McNeil has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

McNeil drops back looking for a leg! Acevedo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Acevedo manages to kick McNeil off! McNeil jumps back into Acevedo's guard.
Acevedo wants to stand and escape but McNeil is having none of it.
Acevedo controls McNeil momentarily but McNeil frees himself.
Acevedo really is a fat lump.
Acevedo keeping moving, preventing McNeil from controlling successfully.
McNeil slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McNeil darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Acevedo tries to get to full guard but McNeil has control of the leg.
McNeil wants to take a breather but Acevedo is having none of it.
McNeil might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Acevedo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Acevedo is looking to escape.

Acevedo is not content to let McNeil control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Trevor McNeil hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Acevedo lands a glancing blow to the side of McNeil's head.
Acevedo tries to clinch but McNeil is having none of it.
Acevedo tries to close the distance and clinch but McNeil swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Acevedo shoots in for a takedown but McNeil shows good takedown defense.
McNeil doesn't manage to clinch there - Acevedo circles away.

McNeil fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Acevedo to the ground. McNeil is now in Acevedo's guard.
Acevedo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Acevedo keeping moving, preventing McNeil from controlling successfully.
McNeil is breathing heavily.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for McNeil. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Acevedo swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Acevedo is fighting off a takedown attempt but McNeil is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Acevedo to the mat. Acevedo regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McNeil preventing the sweep.

McNeil drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McNeil jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Acevedo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McNeil is aware though and is defending well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McNeil on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

McNeil manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Acevedo on his heels. He'll look to pass Acevedo's guard now, I'm sure.

Trevor McNeil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
