Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodney Carney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carney feints and as Sanders raises his hands in defense, Carney changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carney slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Carney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanders swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carney trying to control but Sanders is working from the bottom.

Rodney Carney has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carney fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sanders avoids it really well and circles away.
Carney has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sanders.
Sanders thumps Carney with a low kick.
Carney throws a predictable looking body shot
and Sanders counters with a left and a right that stings Carney.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A left and a right from Sanders both land. Nice combination.

Carney looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sanders!
Sanders wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Carney moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Carney prevents Sanders from escaping the position.
Sanders is letting Carney control him for a moment.
Sanders is trying to get back to his feet.
Sanders seems a little lost for a moment, as Carney dominates the positioning.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sanders is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Sanders looks winded!

Carney decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sanders to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carney scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Carney stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carney uses his free foot to push down on Sanders's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sanders.

Carney working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sanders turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Carney off and cradles Sanders's limp body as Carney celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Rodney Carney!
