PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tamas Pal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rex Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tamas Pal!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pal defends well and Lynch ends up having to push Pal into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Pal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lynch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lynch is trying to pull guard but Pal turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Lynch jumps into guard, dragging Pal to the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pal trying to control but Lynch is working from the bottom.

Pal prevents Lynch from getting back to his feet.
Lynch keeping moving, preventing Pal from controlling successfully.

Tamas Pal has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Good leg kick by Pal there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Pal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pal is trying to control. Lynch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lynch looks like he's trying to stand up.
Lynch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lynch.

Pal wants to control from the top but Lynch keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tamas Pal was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Lynch shoots in and drives through. Pal sprawls well.

Lynch is looking to stand up but Pal isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pal trying to control the position from guard on top but Lynch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tamas Pal wasn't active enough on the ground.
Pal darts in looking for a takedown but Lynch gets double underhooks and turns Pal into the cage.
Lynch is working for takedown but Pal is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lynch has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lynch is breathing heavily.

Pal breaks the clinch.
Pal dives in and grabs Lynch's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lynch pushes down on Pal's head and hops out.
Lynch takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Pal pushes Lynch up against the cage in a clinch.

Lynch drags the fight down to the ground.

Pal gets to his feet - Lynch follows without any prompting.
Pal lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pal feints and as Lynch raises his hands in defense, Pal changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lynch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lynch is trying to keep Pal in close.
Pal forces his way into half guard.
Pal perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pal is looking to take a break and control but Lynch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tamas Pal dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lynch manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pal on his heels. He'll look to pass Pal's guard now, I'm sure.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rex Lynch.

Pal has taken the fight to the clinch.

Pal wants to get back to striking at distance but Lynch won't allow it.
Lynch tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pal looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lynch is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lynch lands a couple of elbows.

Pal wants to get back to his feet but Lynch is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Pal looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lynch seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lynch is trying to control the action in half guard but Pal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Rex Lynch wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pal lands with a thumping leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lynch moves out of range as Pal throws a body kick.
Pal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lynch tries to avoid it but Pal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lynch to the ground. Lynch escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rex Lynch dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pal shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lynch closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pal circles away.
Pal throws a looping overhand right but Lynch ducks down to avoid it.

Lynch shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pal but Pal pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tamas Pal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pal tries to work over Lynch's front leg with a kick but Lynch checks it.

Pal is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rex Lynch. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lynch jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pal walks away with a smile on his face. Lynch gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pal shoots in looking for a takedown but Lynch manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Pal fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pal shoots in but no luck this time.
Pal takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pal prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pal is trying to push Lynch away but Lynch has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lynch manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pal leaves Lynch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pal shoots in looking for a takedown but Lynch manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Pal gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lynch is trying to pull guard but Pal turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Pal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pal is trying to force a seperation but Lynch has the dominant position.
Pal has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lynch is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Pal jumps guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pal controls Lynch momentarily but Lynch frees himself.
Rex Lynch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lynch lands a nice shot that snaps Pal's head back.
Lynch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pal's waist but Pal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lynch off to one side.

Pal moves into the clinch.

Lynch fails to pull guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lynch has Pal pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lynch pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pal tumbling to the mat - Lynch dives into Pal's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Tamas Pal.
I think Pal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
