PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saem Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Rekis!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekis closes the distance and clinches up with Black, looking for a takedown. Rekis pushes Black against the cage but Black circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Black fails with the takedown
and Rekis counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rekis shoots in but Black avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Black gets tackled into the cage by Rekis. Rekis maintains the clinch.
Black goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rekis prevents it.

Rekis wants the takedown. Black is fighting it off but Rekis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Black's guard against the cage.
Rekis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Rekis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Black is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rekis trying to control the position from guard on top but Black is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rekis works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rekis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rekis is trying to control the action in half guard but Black is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Black on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Black tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rekis uses his free foot to push down on Black's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Black.
Black knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rekis on the ground.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Black tries to lock up and control but Rekis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rekis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Black is looking to escape.
Rekis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Black haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rekis goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Black is on top in guard.
Rekis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Black's guard.

Black is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Still in half guard, Rekis seems content to control.
Rekis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rekis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Black shoots in and bounces Rekis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
