PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bearer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ryan Wagner has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ryan Wagner seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Bearer!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bearer throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wagner counters with a shoot takedown. Bearer fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Wagner will probably get the nod.

Wagner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Wagner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fight stays on the outside here - Bearer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bearer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wagner throws a front kick that sends Bearer stumbling back into the cage.

A solid leg kick lands there for Wagner.
Wagner connects with a leg kick. Bearer looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Bearer tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Wagner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bearer takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Wagner scores with a shot to the body.
Bearer takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bearer takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Wagner turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Wagner cracks a nice hook into Bearer's ribs.

Wagner lands a left and a right that send Bearer crashing to the mat, dazed. Wagner thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Bearer is rocked!
Wagner looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Wagner scores with the left hand. Bearer knows he should have avoided that one.
Bearer is still on wobbly legs! Can Wagner finish him?
Wagner throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Bearer's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Wagner dives in looking to finish as Bearer flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Wagner's strikes! Wagner is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Bearer's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Bearer was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryan Wagner!
