PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damian Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Scotcho Colbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damian Acevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, El Scotcho Colbs!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colbs looks to score with a jab to the body but Acevedo is just out of range.
El Scotcho Colbs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Colbs throws a nice looking combination but Acevedo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Colbs closes the distance and pushes Acevedo back into the cage.
Acevedo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Colbs pulls guard effortlessly.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Colbs pulls Acevedo in to control the position.
Acevedo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Colbs has a closed guard, preventing Acevedo from standing up.

Acevedo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Colbs pulls Acevedo in close to his closed guard and prevents Acevedo from doing any damage or advancing position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Acevedo takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Colbs throws a head kick but Acevedo moves out of range.

Acevedo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Colbs scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Acevedo to see if he's OK.
Acevedo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Acevedo wants to get back to full guard.
Colbs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Colbs is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Colbs is keen to just control but Acevedo is a slippery customer.
Colbs might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Acevedo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Acevedo tries to kick Colbs off but Colbs keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Acevedo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Colbs working over Acevedo with some ground and pound. Acevedo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Colbs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Colbs lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.


Acevedo is rocked!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Colbs connects with a nice short shot to Acevedo's temple.
Oh Acevedo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Colbs seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Acevedo is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
