Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Milton Merritt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Gammon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gammon has chosen Eazy-E Switchez as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Milton Merritt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cody Gammon!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gammon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Milton Merritt has been cut.
Gammon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Merritt misses with a series of wild punches.

Merritt shoots in and bounces Gammon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gammon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Merritt's guard.
Merritt is controlling Gammon's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Merritt is trying to control the position but Gammon postures up.
Merritt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Milton Merritt wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Gammon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Merritt sprawls well. Merritt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gammon gets slowly back to his feet.
Gammon fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Gammon tries to clinch there but Merritt circles away.
Left hook, right uppercut from Gammon.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gammon is defended easily by Merritt.

Gammon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Merritt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gammon looks to score with a jab to the body but Merritt is just out of range.

Merritt moves into the clinch.
Merritt has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gammon scores with a nice hook to the head.
Merritt is trying to pull guard but Gammon turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Gammon as Merritt tries to tie him up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gammon is looking to clinch but Merritt is avoiding it.
Gammon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gammon looks to land a combination. Merritt sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Gammon shoots in for a double leg but Merritt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Milton Merritt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gammon tries for a takedown but Merritt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gammon attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Gammon throws a sloppy head kick and Merritt moves out of range easily.

and Merritt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Merritt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gammon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Merritt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gammon goes for a double leg but Merritt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Merritt continues to drive forward.

Gammon is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Merritt gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Merritt tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Come on Merritt - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Merritt is trying to break the clinch but Gammon has him pressed against the cage.

Merritt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gammon looks to land a right hand but Merritt moved out of range.

Merritt gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Merritt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gammon misses with a takedown

and Merritt moves into the clinch.
Merritt wants to break the clinch but can't.

Merritt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gammon tries to clinch but Merritt moves out of range.

Gammon misses with a takedown

and Merritt moves into the clinch.

Merritt manages to break the clinch.
Merritt checks a leg kick.
Gammon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Gammon walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Merritt checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Gammon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Merritt is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gammon throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cody Gammon will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Gammon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Merritt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

enabling Merritt to counter with a crisp jab.
Gammon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Merritt as he avoids it easily.

Gammon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Merritt fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gammon, pushing him back against the cage.

Merritt is trying to push Gammon away but Gammon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

and Merritt counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Gammon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Merritt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cody Gammon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Merritt counters with a shoot takedown. Gammon fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Gammon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gammon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gammon scores with a sloppy right hand. Merritt should have avoided that one.
Gammon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Merritt.

Merritt dives in and scores a takedown into Gammon's guard.

Merritt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gammon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Merritt, into his guard.

Merritt controls Gammon momentarily but Gammon frees himself.

Milton Merritt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cody Gammon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Merritt has his foot on Gammon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gammon works his way back into a safe position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Milton Merritt showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gammon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
