PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthos Seaworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthos Seaworth!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright moves away from the strike by Seaworth.
Wright throws a head kick but Seaworth moves out of range.

Wright fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Seaworth, pushing him back against the cage.

Wright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wright moves out of range as Seaworth strikes.
Seaworth throws a half hearted mid kick.
Wright closes this distance looking for a takedown but Seaworth circles away.
Wright lands a high kick!
Seaworth swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Seaworth throws a shot from downtown. Wright moves away and avoids it.
Wright rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Seaworth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wright looks for a takedown but Seaworth sprawls well.
Wright takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Eric Wright has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Seaworth misses with an uppercut. Wright saw that one coming.
Wright swinging wildly here.
Seaworth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Seaworth misses with a low kick.

Wright fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Seaworth, pushing him back against the cage.
Wright is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Seaworth pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wright successfully pulls guard.
Wright is pulling down on Seaworth's head. It's preventing any offense from Seaworth, at least for the moment.
Seaworth wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Seaworth trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wright is pulling down on Seaworth's head to control his posture.

Wright is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Seaworth presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Seaworth looking to stall.
Seaworth drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wright gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Seaworth tries to break the clinch but Wright is controlling the position.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wright.
Wright stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Wright manages to break the clinch.
Seaworth misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Seaworth misses with a straight left.
Seaworth misses with a hook

and Wright counters by moving into the clinch.
Seaworth tries for a takedown but Wright manages to get underhooks.
Wright goes for a takedown attempt but Seaworth pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Wright.
Wright displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Seaworth.
Seaworth works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Seaworth drops Wright with a beautiful combination! Wright stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Seaworth is looking for the KO!

Wright is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Seaworth throws an off balance right hand
letting Wright counter with a right hand.
Oh Wright is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Seaworth might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Wright fails with a takedown attempt.
Wright seems to have got his legs back now.
A head kick misses from Wright.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthos Seaworth dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Eric Wright's cut.
That's time! Wright's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Seaworth cracks Wright on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Wright falls backwards against the cage. Seaworth follows up with more strikes that drop Wright to his knees. Seaworth keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Wright! This one is all over!
