PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zander Freyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike The Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freyer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Milquetoast by Helmet. The Shark has chosen Still as his entrance music. Zander Freyer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Zander Freyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike The Shark!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freyer checks a leg kick.
The Shark tries to land a front kick but Freyer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mike The Shark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Shark keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The Shark throws a low kick, looking for Freyer's leg but Freyer calmly moves out of range.
The Shark's coach down at Iron Fist Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on The Shark's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Freyer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The Shark is looking to score with low kicks.
The Shark lands a head kick. Freyer smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The Shark throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Freyer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by The Shark.

Freyer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but The Shark is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Freyer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The Shark is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Freyer is looking to take a break and control but The Shark is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Freyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if The Shark can do anything to dispel that myth.

Freyer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from The Shark.

The Shark tries to clinch but Freyer is having none of it.

The Shark ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Freyer moves away.

Mike The Shark is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Freyer is looking to wear down The Shark with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Mike The Shark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
