Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Beard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Werdum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyson Beard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fabricio Werdum!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beard gets caught napping as Werdum dives in and scores a takedown. Beard manages to retain guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Werdum throws a big right hand that misses.
Werdum lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Werdum controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Werdum trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fabricio Werdum was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Werdum pulls Beard in close to prevent any damage.

Beard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Werdum looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beard is one step ahead there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Werdum working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Werdum wants to control but Beard passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Werdum lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beard!
Werdum postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Beard looks a forlorn figure.

Werdum tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Werdum lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Beard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Beard wants to hold on but Werdum pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Werdum feints and as Beard raises his hands in defense, Werdum changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Beard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Werdum controls the pace.
Beard looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Werdum pushing down on Beard's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Beard wants to control but Werdum is keeping busy.
Werdum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Beard with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Werdum throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Werdum looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Beard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Werdum content to control rather than advance.
Beard trying to hold on to Werdum's head to control him but Werdum postures up.

Werdum sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Werdum moves nicely into side control.
Werdum wants to stand but Beard is controlling his arm.
Werdum connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Beard some visible discomfort.
Beard tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Werdum wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Werdum tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Werdum has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Beard is trying to control Werdum's posture but Werdum avoids it.

Werdum wants to stand but Beard has his arm trapped.
Beard pushes Werdum away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Werdum gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Werdum tries to advance to mount but Beard denies him.

Werdum lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Beard down.
Werdum in side control lands a decent elbow.
You can see the frustration on Beard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Beard wants to control but Werdum postures up.
Beard takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beard tries to bench press Werdum off him but Werdum keeps the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Werdum is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Beard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Werdum is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Beard's shoulder. That is not cool.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beard takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Werdum wants to stand but Beard has his arm trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fabricio Werdum showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Beard tries to clinch but Werdum moves out of range.

Beard can't keep his opponent in guard - Werdum advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Werdum wants to pass to mount but Beard is defending the position.
Werdum content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Beard is looking to control Werdum's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Beard avoid being mounted?
Werdum with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Well, if Werdum is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fabricio Werdum hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Werdum throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Werdum misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Werdum closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Beard did well to prevent Werdum getting side control.

Beard avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Werdum.
Werdum wants to take a breather but Beard is having none of it.
Werdum takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Beard throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Beard is looking to improve his position.
Werdum not doing much here.

Werdum has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Beard uses from the top position.
Werdum takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Werdum has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Werdum is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Werdum is looking to stand up but Beard isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Werdum is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beard, into his guard.

Fabricio Werdum is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Beard tries to roll over but Werdum keeps him under control.

Fabricio Werdum comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Werdum has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
