Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonas Wolter!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes clinches with his opponent.
Wolter looking to throw knees to the head but Mendes is blocking nicely.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Wolter just misses with a elbow thrown towards Mendes's brow.

Mendes dodges an elbow strike from Wolter.

It looks like Jake Mendes has been cut.
With the fighters up against the cage, Wolter throws an elbow but misses.

Mendes has Wolter pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mendes pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wolter tumbling to the mat - Mendes dives into Wolter's guard.

Mendes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wolter after a bit of a struggle.
Wolter lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Mendes.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wolter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mendes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wolter manages to get himself to full guard.

Wolter has his foot on Mendes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mendes works his way back into a safe position though.

Wolter has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Mano`s Elite BJJ Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Mendes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mendes moves into range and clinches up with Wolter.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mendes closes the distance and clinches.
Wolter lands an elbow inside that Mendes shrugs off.
Wolter misses with a punch on the inside.
Wolter goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Mendes pulls guard effortlessly.
Mendes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wolter is one step ahead there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wolter wants to control from the top but Mendes keeps moving.
Wolter with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes has Wolter pulled in close to control his posture.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Mendes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mendes thuds a left hand into Wolter's body.
Wolter jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mendes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wolter avoids the head kick by Mendes.

Wolter is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Mendes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wolter just stands there and leans against the cage.

Mendes jumps guard but Wolter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Mendes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wolter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Mendes has hold of one of Wolter's legs. Wolter is fighting the takedown attempt but Mendes gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Wolter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
