PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Buddie Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rivera might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (I Promise). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Rivera throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rivera ducks under a wild hook from Archer.
Archer throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rivera walks into a straight right hand from Archer.

Archer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Rivera fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rivera is looking to wear down Archer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Archer misses with a hook. Rivera ducked under it nicely.
Archer tries to close the distance and clinch but Rivera swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That kick from Rivera tenderised Archer's leg. Archer is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rivera uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Archer.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Archer, as that shot connected.

Archer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

A left lands for Archer.
Rivera thows a body shot but no joy.
Archer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rivera looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rivera throws a low kick but Archer moves out of range easily.
Archer throws a jab but it's blocked by Rivera.
Rivera throws a leg kick which misses Archer's front leg but catches the back leg as Archer tries to avoid it.
Archer tries to bum rush Rivera with a series of wild strikes but Rivera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Rivera walks into a left hand.
Archer connects with a looping right hand.
Rivera tests Archer's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Archer forces Rivera back against the cage and clinches.

Archer lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Archer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rivera takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Archer throws a big shot that misses.
Archer takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Rivera wants to slow Archer down by chopping away at his legs.
Archer throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Good leg kick by Rivera there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rivera fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Archer checks it well.
Rivera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Archer is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rivera had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Archer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rivera was well out of range. Poor timing from Archer.

Archer bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rivera's head.
Archer might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Archer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Buddie Rivera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rivera connects with a leg kick. Archer looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Buddie Rivera will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Archer has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Rivera to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Archer is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Rivera pulls down on the head and he's put Archer to sleep! This one is all over!
