Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Coco Cobb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey O Doherty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Coco Cobb!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mickey O Doherty!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cobb rushes O Doherty and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cobb scores with a knee to the head.
Cobb with a knee to the head.
Cobb tries to land a knee to the head but O Doherty blocks with his arms.
We've been hearing reports that Cobb has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
O Doherty wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cobb scores a nice knee to the body.
O Doherty wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cobb has him pressed against the cage.
Cobb unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Cobb landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Cobb lands a knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cobb wants the takedown. O Doherty is fighting it off but Cobb persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in O Doherty's guard against the cage.
Cobb will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cobb thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
O Doherty seems keen to control Cobb's posture.
Cobb slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Cobb is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but O Doherty is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cobb is looking to take a break and control but O Doherty is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
O Doherty is being controlled here.
O Doherty tries to escape but Cobb is in control.

Cobb tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cobb has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Cobb has hold of O Doherty's arm. He's looking for a kimura. O Doherty seems comfortable defending it but Cobb has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! O Doherty is real pain and he's forced to tap out! O Doherty is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Cobb couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Coco Cobb!
Coco Cobb retains his featherweight title!
A relieved looking Coco Cobb thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
