The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Bricola enables Maddox to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bricola manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bricola tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bricola bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maddox's guard.

Maddox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bricola walks away with a smile on his face. Maddox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bricola closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Maddox quickly recovers to half guard.
