PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michal Suchacki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Suchacki kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ide Prosto. Hawk has chosen Last ride of the Day: as his entrance music. Michal Suchacki has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk darts in looking for a takedown but Suchacki gets double underhooks and turns Hawk into the cage.

Suchacki manages to pull guard.
Suchacki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hawk working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Suchacki is trying to drag Hawk to the mat but Hawk just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Suchacki looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Suchacki has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hawk avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Michal Suchacki will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Suchacki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hawk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suchacki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Suchacki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hawk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawk can do anything to dispel that myth.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Michal Suchacki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I think Suchacki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
