Pat's entrance music is Project Pat - What Cha Starin' At. A fine choice. Karelin has chosen CCCP as his entrance music. Aleksanteri Karelin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Project Pat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Aleksanteri Karelin!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pat moves away.
Pat ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karelin moves away.
Karelin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Pat has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Valhalla Training Grounds in the buildup to the fight.
Karelin avoids the body shot from Pat.
Karelin loads up on a big right hand but Pat slips the punch.
Pat fails with an attempt to clinch.
Good leg kick by Pat there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Karelin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pat slaps away a takedown attempt from Karelin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Karelin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pat can pounce on him.
Pat scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Karelin doesn't seem bothered though.
Karelin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pat manages to avoid it.
Karelin avoids the head kick by Pat.
Pat throws a hook but Karelin blocks it.
Karelin misses with a wild body shot.
Pat swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pat jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Karelin takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Karelin moves out of range as Pat strikes.
Karelin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pat to score with a decent uppercut.
Pat throws a chopping leg kick but Karelin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Karelin shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Pat throws a quick inside leg kick.
Karelin lands a right hook to the body.
Project Pat is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Karelin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pat to the mat! Pat manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

My spies in Allstars MMA inform me that Karelin has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pat is pressed up against the cage. Karelin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pat down to the mat. Pat avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Project Pat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aleksanteri Karelin.
Pat has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Pat throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karelin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pat.

Karelin cracks Pat with a right hand to the side of the head.
Pat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pat digs a right hand underneath Karelin's ribcage. Karelin let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pat, as that shot connected.

Karelin ducks under a wild hook from Pat.
Pat throws a head kick that misses.
Karelin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pat.

Pat throws a leg kick which misses Karelin's front leg but catches the back leg as Karelin tries to avoid it.
Pat connects with a solid leg kick.

Pat slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

That was a close round but Project Pat did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


The crowd cheers as Karelin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pat doesn't seem phased though.
Pat displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Karelin throws out the jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pat.
Karelin scores with the left hand. Pat knows he should have avoided that one.

Pat pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Karelin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Karelin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
