The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyata takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Miyata counters with a left and a right that stings Jokinen.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jokinen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jokinen lands with a good body shot.
Jokinen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Miyata counters with a left and a right that stings Jokinen.
Miyata ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jokinen moves away.

Jokinen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jokinen wants to control from the top but Miyata keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jokinen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Miyata is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Jokinen frees his head nicely. Oh but Miyata has switched to an armbar! Jokinen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
