Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Burklin!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burklin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Martinez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Burklin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Martinez is proving hard to escape from.

Martinez throws a strike but Burklin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Burklin is looking to stand up but Martinez won't let him.

Martinez controls Burklin momentarily but Burklin frees himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeff Martinez.
Burklin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Burklin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Burklin lands in his opponent's guard.

Burklin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Martinez shoots in but Burklin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Burklin is keen to just control but Martinez is a slippery customer.
Burklin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've been informed that Burklin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Burklin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Burklin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Martinez's head.

Martinez is doing well to control the position and prevent Burklin from advancing to side control.
Martinez wants to control but Burklin is keeping busy.
Martinez wants to get back to full guard but Burklin has passed into side control.
Ivan Burklin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Burklin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Martinez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Burklin lands a decent elbow from side control.
Martinez tries to bench press Burklin off him but Burklin keeps the position.
Burklin wants to stand but Martinez has his arm trapped.

Martinez throws Burklin to one side and escapes!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burklin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Martinez to see if he's OK.
Martinez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Martinez is trying to control Burklin's posture but Burklin avoids it.
Burklin tries to advance to mount but Martinez denies him.

Martinez trying to control but Burklin flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Burklin controlling the position well here. Martinez rolled but Burklin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burklin lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Burklin has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Martinez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Martinez defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Burklin's arms.
Burklin controls the position.
Martinez is really stuck here.
Burklin gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Burklin is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ivan Burklin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Martinez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Burklin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Burklin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Martinez tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Burklin wants to control the pace but Martinez is squirming around nicely.
Burklin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Martinez wants to hold on but Burklin pushes him away.
Burklin lands a big shot there that rocks Martinez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Oh Martinez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Burklin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Martinez hang on?
Martinez reaches up to try and control the position but Burklin seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Martinez rolls and tries to escape and now Burklin has his back!
Martinez is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Burklin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burklin lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Burklin is scoring with a succession of shots from the back. Martinez is covering up - he's had enough and the ref steps in to end the fight!
