PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Sokoudjou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Jaws (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Jaws was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Jaws!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sokoudjou closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jaws to the mat! Jaws manages to get full guard.

Sokoudjou stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Sokoudjou darts in and clinches Jaws up against the cage.

Sokoudjou turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sokoudjou manages to end up in side control.
Jaws struggling a bit here.

Sokoudjou is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jaws knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sokoudjou goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jaws has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sokoudjou but great work by Jaws.
Sokoudjou is not content to let Jaws control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sokoudjou is looking to regain half guard here but Jaws keeps moving and retains side control.

Jaws tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jaws has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jaws tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jaws is pushing down on Sokoudjou's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sokoudjou is fighting to maintain full guard but Jaws has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sokoudjou tries to roll over but Jaws keeps him under control.

Jaws moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Sokoudjou.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jaws decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sokoudjou is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jaws is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Sokoudjou tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Sokoudjou has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jaws is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jaws lands with a slapping head kick.

Sokoudjou closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sokoudjou breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Jaws counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Sokoudjou is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jaws works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sokoudjou is not content to let Jaws control the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sokoudjou is on top in guard.

Jaws is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jaws looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sokoudjou is one step ahead there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jaws keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Sokoudjou controlling the pace.
Jaws is pressing down on Sokoudjou's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sokoudjou controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Jack Jaws showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Sokoudjou throws a lazy head kick
and Jaws counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sokoudjou is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Jaws fails to land the takedown.

Sokoudjou instigates a clinch.
Jaws throws an elbow but it misses.

Sokoudjou pulls guard successfully.
Sokoudjou is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sokoudjou is looking to take a break and control but Jaws is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sokoudjou wants to pass the guard but Jaws is defending well.
Sokoudjou scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Sokoudjou is looking to advance position but Jaws won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sokoudjou is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sokoudjou slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sokoudjou stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jaws swivels though and keeps the full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Jack Jaws.
