The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jr gets tackled into the cage by Schmidt. Schmidt maintains the clinch.
Jr gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Schmidt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jr is working away from the top position though.
Schmidt wants to get back to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jr is taking a breather. Schmidt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Schmidt goes for a double leg but Jr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jr continues to drive forward.

Let's hope that Jr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jr. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
