PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jomar Requina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malaik Hamadani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamadani has chosen Prince Of Persia - Welcome Within as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jomar Requina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Malaik Hamadani!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamadani keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hamadani takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Requina just misses with a punch to the body.
Hamadani does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Hamadani throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Requina moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A big left from Hamadani misses.
Requina tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hamadani paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hamadani avoids the body shot from Requina.
Requina has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOW FIGHTERS PER TRAINERS in the buildup to the fight.
Requina takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Requina scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hamadani doesn't seem bothered though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hamadani swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Requina thuds a left hand into Hamadani's body.

Requina gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hamadani to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Requina has control of Hamadani's left arm, preventing Hamadani from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Requina keeping moving, preventing Hamadani from controlling successfully.

Requina wriggles free and stands up.
Hamadani scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Requina doesn't seem bothered though.
Hamadani dodges the punch combination from Requina.
Requina slaps away a takedown attempt from Hamadani, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hamadani misses with an attempted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Requina misses.

Hamadani drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hamadani trying to control the position from guard on top but Requina is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hamadani trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Requina manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Requina wants to control from the top but Hamadani keeps moving.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Requina postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hamadani looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Requina puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hamadani wants to control but Requina is keeping busy.
Hamadani blocking the ground and pound attempt from Requina.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hamadani avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Requina.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hamadani tries to roll over but Requina keeps him under control.
Requina missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Requina trying to control from Hamadani's half guard. Hamadani has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hamadani will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Requina stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hamadani swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hamadani looking to hit a scissor sweep but Requina is one step ahead there.
Requina throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hamadani works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Requina working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jomar Requina will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Requina lands a big head kick that sends Hamadani tumbling to the mat! Requina takes a step backwards and waves Hamadani back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Malaik Hamadani has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Requina swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hamadani counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Requina!

Hamadani has hold of Requina's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Requina seems comfortable defending it but Hamadani has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Requina is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Requina is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Hamadani couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Malaik Hamadani!
A relieved looking Malaik Hamadani thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
