PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dux comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bloodsport - Fight to Survive kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Dux!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckett blocks a jab.
Dux shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Beckett misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dux.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dux has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Beckett does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dux will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A close round but Frank Dux will probably get the nod.
That's time! Beckett's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Dux scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Dux got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beckett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dux has managed to get both his arms back between Beckett's legs - danger averted.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jim Beckett wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Dux shoots for a double leg takedown but Beckett sprawls well. He's pushed Dux's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Beckett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dux sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beckett somewhat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jim Beckett will probably get the nod.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Beckett.
I think Beckett has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
