Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sound of MAdness - Shinedown. Tyson has chosen God save the Queen as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bo Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Simmons counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Tyson down! Simmons is looking to finish but Tyson is intelligently defending himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Simmons trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simmons accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Simmons stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Simmons wants it to stay on the feet.

Simmons wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tyson, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bo Tyson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Simmons looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tyson just misses with a elbow thrown towards Simmons's brow.

No luck for Tyson with that takedown attempt.
Tyson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tyson jabs Simmons right on the nose. Simmons blinks but takes it well.

Tyson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Simmons momentarily.

Tyson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simmons has his foot on Tyson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tyson works his way back into a safe position though.
Simmons is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Simmons misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Tyson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Tyson is not content to let Simmons control the position.
Simmons in side control, throwing shots but Tyson defends.
Tyson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Simmons asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Simmons throws a strike aimed at the side of Tyson's head but Tyson avoids it well.
John Simmons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Simmons is trying to get an arm triangle but Tyson is defending well.
Simmons fails to land a wild elbow strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Simmons goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tyson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Simmons but great work by Tyson.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Simmons.
I think Simmons has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
