And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Francis DeMontford.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tagalog tries to clinch but Gregory is having none of it.
Gregory avoids the head kick by Tagalog.
Gregory tries a head kick but it misses.
Tagalog tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Gregory counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gregory.
Tagalog using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gregory has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Tagalog misses with a knee strike.
Tagalog tries to land a knee to the head but Gregory blocks with his arms.

Gregory pulls guard.
Tagalog told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gregory is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Broderick Gregory wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tagalog looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gregory darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tagalog misses with a head kick.
Tagalog throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gregory pushes Tagalog up against the cage in a clinch.

Gregory has clasped his hands together around Tagalog's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee asks Gregory politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gregory prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gregory has hold of Tagalog's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Tagalog seems comfortable defending it but Gregory has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Tagalog is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Tagalog is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gregory couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Broderick Gregory!
