The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcknight misses with a few strikes there.
AlAkir misses with a wild combination.
AlAkir throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
AlAkir lands a high kick!

AlAkir drives through with a takedown into Mcknight's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Mcknight really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mamed AlAkir hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

AlAkir pulls out of a head kick attempt.

AlAkir shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
AlAkir trying to advance position but Mcknight counters by regaining guard.
Mcknight bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in AlAkir's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mcknight's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Mcknight stands up from AlAkir's guard - Mcknight perhaps looking for a knockout.

It looks like Mamed AlAkir has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
AlAkir takes a head kick and keeps coming.
AlAkir takes a kick to the side of the head.

Mcknight looking to score a takedown here. AlAkir is defending well but Mcknight drives through and ends up in AlAkir's guard.

Mcknight is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, AlAkir has managed to escape the submission attempt.
AlAkir really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Mcknight looking for a guillotine from mount but AlAkir is having none of it.
AlAkir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcknight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mcknight has control of AlAkir's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and AlAkir regains control of the situation pretty easily.
AlAkir tries to lock up and control but Mcknight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mcknight get's back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AlAkir fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mcknight sprawls well initially but AlAkir persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mcknight moves into full guard.
Mcknight is adopting a defensive guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mcknight is looking to stand up but AlAkir isn't so interested in that idea.
AlAkir wanted to stand there but Mcknight had control of the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Mcknight tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcknight has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

AlAkir throws a head kick that misses
and Mcknight counters with a three punch combo that has AlAkir backing up. AlAkir nods at Mcknight to acknowledge the strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

AlAkir is working an open guard so Mcknight takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mcknight misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mcknight takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
AlAkir misses with a head kick.
Mcknight misses with a takedown attempt - AlAkir sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
AlAkir ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mcknight, as that shot connected.
AlAkir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcknight scores with a head kick. AlAkir tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

AlAkir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcknight was covering up waiting for the punch and AlAkir finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Mamed AlAkir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
AlAkir throws a head kick that misses.
AlAkir fails to land with a series of punches.
Mcknight goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Mcknight looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Mcknight is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and AlAkir defends it well.

Mcknight will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mcknight fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging AlAkir to the ground. Mcknight is now in AlAkir's guard.
Mcknight postures up and lands a big shot to AlAkir's brow.
Mcknight postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcknight stops AlAkir from standing up.
Mcknight slips nicely into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
AlAkir wants to get back to his feet.

Mcknight is sneakily working for an arm triangle but AlAkir sees it coming and defends easily.

Mcknight is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so AlAkir is just riding it out for now. Mcknight eventually gives up the hold.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if AlAkir can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mcknight looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

AlAkir wants to get back to his feet.
AlAkir is looking to get back to full guard here but Mcknight has managed to pass to side control instead.
