Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Lundin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins comes to the cage accompanied by Wu-Tang Clan - Gravel Pit. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lamont Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cody Lundin!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins missing with a left hand there. Lundin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lundin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hawkins moves out of range as Lundin strikes.

Hawkins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hawkins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lundin lands a couple of elbows.
Lundin content to stall in guard here.
Lundin is pushing down on Hawkins's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hawkins is fighting to maintain full guard but Lundin has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lundin throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hawkins to regain full guard.
Hawkins wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lundin is now in half guard.
Hawkins preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Lundin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cody Lundin was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hawkins does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Lundin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lundin walks into a stiff left hand from Hawkins.

Lundin tries to stall but Hawkins uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Lundin lands a nice uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Lundin.

Hawkins lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Lundin blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hawkins misses with a hook from the clinch.

Hawkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cody Lundin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lundin misses with a low kick as Hawkins jumps back.
Lundin digs a good body shot into Hawkins's ribs.
Hawkins throws a good cross that connects.
Hawkins misses with a body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lundin. Hawkins does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hawkins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lundin can pounce on him.
Hawkins misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hawkins lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Hawkins throws a head kick that misses.
Lundin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lundin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hawkins takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Lundin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawkins takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A head kick by Lundin misses
and Hawkins counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Lundin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hawkins at a distance.
Lundin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Lundin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hawkins throws a lazy right hand but Lundin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lundin misses with a double jab.
Hawkins is looking to score with low kicks.
Hawkins on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hawkins lands a lovely overhand right.
Lundin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lundin misses with the combination.
Lundin chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Lundin moves out of range of the leg kick from Hawkins.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Lundin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lundin feints and then cracks Hawkins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hawkins down.
Lundin throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Hawkins counters with a leg kick.
Hawkins takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lundin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Lundin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hawkins throws a low kick, looking for Lundin's leg but Lundin calmly moves out of range.
Hawkins fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Lundin checks it well.
Lundin looks to land a right hand but Hawkins moved out of range.
Hawkins throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hawkins takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Lundin throws the kick towards the body but Hawkins avoids it.
Hawkins sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lundin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hawkins.
Hawkins swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lundin misses with a straight left.
Hawkins slips a straight right by Lundin.

Good standup being displayed there by Lundin as he connects with a hook.
Lundin throws a wild body kick that Hawkins sees coming a mile off.
Hawkins throws a looping overhand right but Lundin ducks down to avoid it.
Lundin throws a big shot that misses.
Hawkins tries to land a leg kick but Lundin saw it coming and moves away.
Hawkins tries to land a front kick but Lundin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lundin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lundin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hawkins walks into a left hand.
Lundin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hawkins.
Hawkins punishes Lundin's body with a nice straight punch.
Lundin walks into a jab.
Hawkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lundin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hawkins moves away from the strike by Lundin.
Lundin lands a slapping body shot.

Hawkins throws a head kick but Lundin moves out of range.

and Lundin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, if Lundin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hawkins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lundin manages to get himself to full guard.

Hawkins wants to take a breather but Lundin is having none of it.

Hawkins is really struggling to control Lundin but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lamont Hawkins will probably get the nod.

Lundin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Cody Lundin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Lundin.
Hawkins takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Hawkins turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Lundin throws a jab when Hawkins was well out of range.
Hawkins scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Hawkins throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hawkins swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hawkins has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Lundin scores with a shot to the body.
Lundin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hawkins feints and then cracks Lundin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lundin down.
Hawkins has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hawkins there as he acknowledges the shot.
Lundin takes a kick to the side of the head.

Lundin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hawkins.
Lundin lands a right hook to the body.
Lundin lands with a good body shot.
Lundin thows a body shot but no joy.
Lundin looks to land a right hand but Hawkins moved out of range.
Lundin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lundin throws a front kick aimed at Hawkins's knee but Hawkins avoids it well.
Lundin looks for the body kick but Hawkins saw that one coming.

Hawkins wants to sweep here but Lundin controlling him for the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkins has Lundin pulled in close to control his posture.
Hawkins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Lundin looking to sit in guard and control but Hawkins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lundin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hawkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lundin is keeping the position for now.
Hawkins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hawkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lundin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hawkins throws a strike but Lundin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hawkins seems keen to control Lundin's posture.
Lundin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hawkins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lundin's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lundin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lundin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hawkins is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Cody Lundin.
Well Lundin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
