PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiruku Matah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matah comes to the cage accompanied by Walker the Texas Ranger Theme. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hiruku Matah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Snow!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Matah passes Snow's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Matah wants to lay and pray for a moment but Snow keeps working.

Matah is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Matah is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Snow reverses the position - he's now on top in Matah's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matah is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Matah throws his legs up looking for a submission but Snow uses it to pass to side control.
Matah is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Matah wants to get back to full guard.

Snow gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Matah dives in for a single leg takedown but Snow sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Matah ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Matah no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Matah has an active guard here but Snow has managed to pass into half guard.
Matah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Snow tries to stand but can't do so whilst Matah controls his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snow prevents Matah from improving his position.
Matah is working hard here to advance position.

Matah looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Snow is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Matah has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Snow escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Snow!
Matah gets back to half guard.

Matah with the active half guard here but Snow passes nicely into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Snow decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Matah's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Snow counters with a left and a right that stings Matah.
Matah throws a leg kick but Snow moved away.
Matah looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Snow is fending him off so far but Matah persists. Nope, Snow circles away and we're back to standing.

and Snow counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiruku Matah. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Snow counters with a head kick. That will keep Matah thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matah fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Matah shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Snow counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matah shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Snow manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Snow manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Snow lands a right hand that snaps the head of Matah backwards.
Snow misses with a short punch on the inside.
Matah tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Snow just stands there and leans against the cage.
Matah can't get the takedown.
Matah tries to pull guard but Snow holds him up against the cage and eventually Matah drops back down to his feet.
Snow misses with a short punch on the inside.
Snow throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Matahs head.
Snow misses with a hook from the clinch.
Matah tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Matah drags the fight down to the ground.

Matah isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Snow stacks Matah on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Snow!

Snow stands up.

Matah tries for a takedown but Snow circles away easily
and Snow counters with a big head kick but Matah shrugs it off.
Hiruku Matah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Snow throws a nice looking combination but Matah bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Snow doesn't manage to clinch there - Matah circles away.
Matah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Snow as he avoids it easily.
Snow throws a jab when Matah was well out of range.
Matah fails with the takedown
and Snow counters with a straight right hand.

Snow has closed the distance and engaged Matah in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Snow.

Matah has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Snow is trying to keep an underhook but Matah manages to get the takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Matah is looking to stall here but Snow recovers full guard.
Snow wants to get back to his feet but Matah is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Matah throws a big elbow that misses.
Matah throws an elbow that misses. Snow uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Matah's guard. Nice move by Snow!

Matah has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Snow is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Matah.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Matah manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Snow tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Matah.

Matah is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Snow pulls his head out easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Matah wants to improve his position but Snow is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Snow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Matah shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Snow's guard.

Matah misses with a head shot. Snow uses the momentum to regain guard.
Matah tries to free his leg and advance position but Snow is retaining full guard.

Matah wants to control from the top but Snow keeps moving.
Matah trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Snow manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Matah looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Snow has picked Matah up and slammed him! Matah can't keep hold of the triangle and Snow manages to pass to side control!
Matah tries to buck Snow off but Snow is having none of it.

Snow decides to stand back up. Snow steps back and let's Matah get back to his feet.
Snow slaps away a takedown attempt from Matah, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Matah tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Snow defends well and Matah ends up having to push Snow into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Snow lands a left hand that snaps the head of Matah backwards.
A nice left hand lands by Snow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Matah is trying to pull guard but Snow turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Snow gets underhooks to prevent Matah's takedown attempt.
Matah is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Snow gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Snow fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Snow misses with a short punch on the inside.
Snow misses with some punches.

Snow misses with the head strike.

Matah pulls Snow into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Snow decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Matah misses with a takedown
and Snow counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Matah gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Snow counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Matah badly! He tries to strike back but Snow puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Matah out cold! Oh man, Matah will never hear the end of this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jon Snow!
