PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Bulger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryszard Duch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duch is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by John Cage's 4'33". These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duch tries to grapple but his opponent circles

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bulger goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Duch rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bulger's guard! Nice work there by Duch!

Bulger wants to get up but he can't break Duch's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bulger drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Duch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bulger has Duch in his guard.

Bulger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Duch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Duch has a closed guard, preventing Bulger from standing up.
Bulger looking to sit in guard and control but Duch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duch has gone for a leg lock! Bulger slips out almost immediately though and dives into Duch's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duch drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Duch seems to have locked his on tight now - Bulger screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Duch, as he picks up the win!

After the fight, Ryszard Duch was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
