Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ty Daves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ty Daves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Frederick!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daves gets caught napping as Frederick dives in and scores a takedown. Daves manages to retain guard.
Daves keeping moving, preventing Frederick from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frederick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Frederick postures up in Daves's guard and throws a big left but Daves blocks it.

Frederick has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Daves regains guard immediately.
Frederick has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Frederick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Daves swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Frederick was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Frederick has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Daves is landing a low percentage of strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Frederick shoots in looking for a takedown but Daves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Frederick's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Daves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Frederick paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paul Frederick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daves creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Frederick's defenses.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Daves doesn't manage to clinch there - Frederick circles away.

and Frederick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Frederick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Daves tries to avoid it but Frederick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Daves to the ground. Daves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Frederick tries to score a body lock takedown but Daves shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Daves will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Frederick up against the cage.
Daves throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Frederick blocks it with crossed arms.

Frederick is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Frederick holds on and takes a little breather.

We're going to have a standup here because Ty Daves wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Frederick is defended easily by Daves.

Frederick closes the distance and clinches.
Daves keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Frederick's efforts to push away.

Daves lands a nice elbow.
Frederick wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Frederick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Daves gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Frederick on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Frederick wants to break the clinch but can't.
Daves throws an elbow but it misses.
Frederick fails to pull guard.

Frederick gets control of Daves's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frederick will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Frederick might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Daves haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Daves has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Frederick is proving hard to escape from.
Paul Frederick is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Frederick wants to control the position but Daves says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Frederick is trying to maintain the position but Daves is very close to passing his half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Daves fails with an attempt to clinch.
Daves doesn't manage to clinch there - Frederick circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Paul Frederick.
I've got Frederick winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
