Matias comes into the arena with Himno nacional argentino blaring out of the sound system. Lionel Matias has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lionel Matias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hairy Poter!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Matias fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Matias has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Brophy's Evil Troid Academy (BETA) in the buildup to the fight.
Matias shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Poter sprawls well. Poter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Matias gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lionel Matias. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matias shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Poter is trying to defend but Matias finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Matias is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Poter is trying to stand back up but Matias is controlling him
Poter tries to get to full guard but Matias has control of the leg.
Matias not doing much here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Poter can do anything to dispel that myth.

Poter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Matias scores with a couple of nice shots.
Matias slips a nice elbow through Poter's hands, connecting with Poter's forehead.

Matias seems to be working for a kimura but Poter defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poter trying to control but Matias postures up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matias has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Poter tries to reverse the position but Matias maintains control.

Matias is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Poter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Poter is squirming around, avoiding Matias's attempts to control the action.

Matias working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Matias can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Poter is looking to escape.
Poter tries to lock up and control but Matias gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Poter tries to buck Matias off so he can stand up but Matias has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Poter falls backwards, slamming Matias to the mat but Matias holds on tight! Poter is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Lionel Matias!
Post fight, an emotional Lionel Matias said 'I want to say thanks to Kyro for a great fight, he's a great fighter. I also want to thank my manager, lucas cresta for having confidence in me. Now I want to keep moving forward.'.
