PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Hyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichiro Kosugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyatt comes to the cage accompanied by Street fighter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ichiro Kosugi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kosugi shoots in looking for a takedown but Hyatt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kosugi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hyatt thows a body shot but no joy.
Kosugi throws a right hand that Hyatt ducks under and follows up with a left that Hyatt also avoids with ease.
A left lands for Kosugi.
Kosugi misses with a head kick.
Kosugi takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Ichiro Kosugi has been cut.
Kosugi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hyatt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kosugi somewhat.
Hyatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kosugi moves away.
Hyatt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kosugi was well out of range. Poor timing from Hyatt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kosugi.
Jimmy Hyatt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichiro Kosugi.
Nice straight punches there by Hyatt. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hyatt.
Kosugi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hyatt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hyatt lands a jab to the head.
Horrible takedown by Kosugi or perhaps it was just good defense by Hyatt which made him look bad.

Kosugi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hyatt.
A head kick misses from Hyatt.
Kosugi dodges the punch combination from Hyatt.
Kosugi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Hyatt tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kosugi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kosugi fails to land with a series of punches.
Hyatt tries to land a front kick but Kosugi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hyatt lands a front kick.
Hyatt blocks the body kick.
Kosugi takes one on the button.

Hyatt has managed to clinch.
Hyatt misses with a punch to the body.
Hyatt misses with some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hyatt lands with a short head shot on the inside.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kosugi goes for a takedown attempt but Hyatt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kosugi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hyatt throws the kick towards the body but Kosugi avoids it.
Kosugi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hyatt counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A punch lands to the side of Kosugi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hyatt lands a nice shot that snaps Kosugi's head back.
Hyatt misses with a body kick.
Kosugi is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hyatt is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Kosugi.
Hyatt's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kosugi under the eye.
Hyatt throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kosugi misses with a looping right.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hyatt.
Kosugi tries for a takedown but Hyatt circles away easily
and Hyatt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyatt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kosugi momentarily.
It looks like Hyatt has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Hyatt lands a left and a right that send Kosugi crashing to the mat, dazed. Hyatt thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Kosugi is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hyatt fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kosugi.
Kosugi is still on wobbly legs! Can Hyatt finish him?
Kosugi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hyatt as he avoids it easily.
Kosugi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kosugi looks winded!
Hyatt fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kosugi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kosugi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hyatt as he jumps to the side.
Kosugi seems to have recovered his senses.
Kosugi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hyatt sprawls well. Hyatt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kosugi gets slowly back to his feet.
Kosugi misses with a takedown attempt - Hyatt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hyatt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kosugi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A cross from Hyatt lands.
Hyatt misses with a wild body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hyatt misses with a straight right.
Hyatt is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


That has opened up Ichiro Kosugi's cut even more.
Jimmy Hyatt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hyatt misses with a straight right.
Hyatt stuffs the takedown attempt from Kosugi. Kosugi gets slowly back to his feet.
Hyatt is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kosugi is looking to clinch but Hyatt is avoiding it.
Hyatt throws a shot from downtown. Kosugi moves away and avoids it.
Hyatt works over Kosugi's head and body with a nice combination.

Kosugi moves into the clinch.
Kosugi prevents a body shot from Hyatt.
Hyatt misses with a shot to the kidneys.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kosugi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hyatt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Hyatt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hyatt gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A right hook to the body lands for Hyatt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Hyatt dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ichiro Kosugi's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kosugi on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A swing and a miss from Hyatt.
Kosugi throws out a loose jab but Hyatt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hyatt cracks Kosugi with a good jab.
Kosugi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kosugi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kosugi slips a straight right by Hyatt.
Kosugi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kosugi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kosugi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kosugi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kosugi throws a lazy uppercut
and Hyatt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kosugi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kosugi misses with a two punch combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kosugi has his takedown stuffed
and Hyatt counters with a nice kick to the body.
Kosugi is breathing heavily.
Hyatt motions for Kosugi to come forward. Hyatt throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hyatt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Hyatt lands a big right hand that sends Kosugi crashing to the mat! Hyatt stays standing though and waves Kosugi back to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hyatt stuns Kosugi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kosugi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hyatt.
A jab from Hyatt finds it's way through Kosugi's defenses.


The cut above Ichiro Kosugi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kosugi wants to clinch up but Hyatt keeps it at a distance.
Kosugi gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Hyatt gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Kosugi is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jimmy Hyatt!
A relieved looking Jimmy Hyatt thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
