The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longbird thumps Laak with a low kick.
Laak throws a jab when Longbird was well out of range.
Longbird looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Laak has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hunter's hideout in the buildup to the fight.
Laak looks to land a combination but Longbird avoids it well.
Laak tries to work over Longbird's front leg with a kick but Longbird checks it.
Laak works the jab nicely.
Longbird tries a head kick but it misses.
Longbird is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Laak lands with a nice body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Longbird fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Laak.
Laak misses the shot to the body.
Longbird is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Laak looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Laak throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fighters circling - Laak throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Laak tries to keep at a distance but Longbird has taken the fight into the clinch.
Laak fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Longbird swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Longbird blocks an elbow strike.
Longbird doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Longbird tries a body shot but Laak blocks it.

Longbird manages to break the clinch.

Longbird catches Laak with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

A solid leg kick lands there for Longbird.
Laak connects with a nice looking jab.
Laak takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Longbird, right into the meat.

Longbird needs to keep his hands up - Laak had a free shot at his head there.

Longbird clinches up against the cage.
Longbird lands a left hand.
Laak is trying to stall.
Longbird goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Laak is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Longbird is keeping busy.

Longbird breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Longbird has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Laak walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Laak takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Laak stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Longbird.
Longbird tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Longbird fails in his attempt to clinch.
A combination from Laak does no damage.
Laak throws out a loose jab but Longbird uses good head movement to avoid it.
Longbird takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Laak throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Longbird attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Longbird tries to land a leg kick but Laak saw it coming and moves away.
Laak swings for the body but Longbird moves out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Longbird tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Longbird ducks under a wild hook from Laak.
Longbird throws a big shot that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hammer Longbird dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A head kick from Laak lands but Longbird takes it in his stride.

It looks like Hammer Longbird has been cut.
Laak is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Laak drops Longbird with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Longbird! Laak dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

After the fight, Eric Laak was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
