The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bling shoots for a double leg takedown but Ponjev sprawls well. He's pushed Bling's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sam Ponjev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ponjev finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A cross from Ponjev lands.
Bling walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bling avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ponjev uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Bling checks a low kick from Ponjev.
Ponjev fails to land with a series of punches.
Ponjev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Ponjev counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bling's knee momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ponjev shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Bling throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ponjev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bling is in Ponjev's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bling is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ponjev is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ponjev has escaped and now he's on top!

Ponjev is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bling preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Bling is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ponjev defends well.

Bling throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ponjev uses it to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bling manages to get back to half guard.
Ponjev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bling knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ponjev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Bling is looking for a sweep. Ponjev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ponjev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bling doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ponjev.
Ponjev winds up and cracks Bling with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ponjev is trying to control. Bling wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bling on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ponjev has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bling is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ponjev tries to control but Bling wriggling away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ponjev cracks Bling with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ponjev drops Bling with a huge uppercut! Bling drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Ponjev is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
