Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tiago Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Wimms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tiago Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Wimms!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos tries to clinch up

and Wimms counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wimms pushing down on Santos's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Wimms is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Santos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Santos is looking to improve his position.
Wimms takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Santos is trying to stand back up but Wimms is controlling him
Santos tries to get to full guard but Wimms has control of the leg.

Jim Wimms has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Wimms counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Wimms is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Santos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Santos tries to get out of the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wimms's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Wimms gets tackled into the cage by Santos. Santos maintains the clinch.

Wimms tightens his grip and picks Santos up, before dumping him to the ground. Santos manages to land in guard.
Wimms slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wimms advances to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Wimms is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Santos really is a fat lump.
It looks like Wimms might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Santos shoots and misses

and Wimms decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santos's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wimms wants to pass the guard but Santos is keeping the position.
Wimms slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Santos avoids the body shot from Wimms.
Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wimms is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Wimms circles away and we're back to standing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Santos.
Wimms swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

so Wimms counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Wimms is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jim Wimms was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Wimms has managed to clinch.
Wimms content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Santos tries to pull guard but Wimms forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tiago Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Santos pulls guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wimms passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Santos is letting Wimms control him for a moment.
Wimms works to advance to full mount. Santos defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Let's hope that Wimms has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jim Wimms hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Wimms counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wimms.
Wimms not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Santos is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wimms pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Santos is trying to pull guard but Wimms has him pressed against the cage.

Santos jumps guard but Wimms turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Santos can't keep his opponent in guard - Wimms advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Wimms thows a huge punch but Santos dodges it nicely.
Still in half guard, Wimms seems content to control.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Wimms works his foot free and advances to mount.

Wimms looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wimms content just to control the position here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Santos working to try and regain half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jim Wimms.

Wimms closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Santos's guard.
Wimms sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Santos's guard.

Wimms with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Wimms throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Still in half guard, Wimms seems content to control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jim Wimms was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Santos gets caught napping as Wimms dives in and scores a takedown. Santos manages to retain guard.
Tiago Santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wimms is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Jim Wimms comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wimms has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
